About the City of Independence and the Riverview Community Playground The City of Independence is a thriving, rural community that runs along side of the great Willamette River in the Willamette Valley. Located a few minutes from the state capitol of Salem, Oregon, Independence enjoys a rich history and a strong sense of community. From its' early days as Fort Independence to the present township, Independence strives to move forward and build towards the future. The Riverview Community Playground Project (RCP) is part of that movement to the future. It is the goal of the RCP committee to provide an area that will allow individuals of all abilities levels to come together in a creative and pleasant environment. The playground will also provide a place where individuals with disabilities will play along side their peers and build strong, lasting relationships. We invite you to visit the future home of the RCP at Riverview Park. Nestled inside of a grove of cedars to the northeast side of the Riverview Amphitheater you will find a nice level, slightly rocky area. One day soon the laughter of children will ring out as they play, new friendships will be made, families will come to spend lazy summer afternoons together, our community will grow even stronger through the connections that will be made at the playground. So we invite you to come listen to the wind whisper through the trees, watch the river flow gently by, dream a little with us and know you can be a part of something special that will change our community for the years to come. Welcome to Independence and the
Riverview Community Playground!
